Sojitz Corporation of America’s (SCA) Chemicals Division operates out of two offices in the U.S., located in New York City and Houston, Texas. Our business spans a wide variety of industries and chemicals, from the oil drilling industry to the automotive industry and from commodity chemicals to specialty chemicals and everything in between. Our close relationships with chemical manufacturers from around the world enables us this great diversity.
In New York, some of our activities include the following:
Drilling Chemicals Such As Barite
Barite, a mineral composed of crystalline barium sulphate has an extremely high specific gravity that makes it a perfect weighting agent for drilling fluid in oil and gas excavation.
Minerals for Animal Feed
As part of our goals to get involved in Agro-Industries in the North American market, we started to import various kind of minerals such as magnesite, phosphate, sodium bicarbonate, etc. as supplements for animal feed by utilizing our customer’s distribution network.
Nonwoven Fabrics
We handle a variety of specialty nonwoven fabrics for the membrane filter and automotive interior material industries.
Flame Retardants
We also handle a variety of non-halogenated phosphate based flame-retardants used by plastic compounders who sell to the automotive and personal electronics industries.
Other Specialty Items
SCA Chemicals has been handling dozens of other specialty chemicals for many years including specialty monomers, rubber additives, materials for circuit boards, and rare earth materials.
Our Houston office handles a variety of items including:
- C5 products (DCPD, Poly-DCPD and Petroleum Polymer Resin)
- Raw materials for coating and resins (Acrylate, Methacrylate, Polyurethane, Polyester materials)
- Glass Fiber
- Solvents (used in the manufacturing of benzene, toluene, xylene, paint, ink, adhesives and detergent)

Controlled Release Fertilizer (CRF)
- Many other specialty chemicals from the far east
SCA Chemicals also handles pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, bio-chemicals and inorganic materials. The chemicals department also has several other specific growth areas: nutrition, and methanol. For nutritional healthcare and dietary supplement products, SCA is marketing Natural E Succinate powders as well as Natural Vitamin E oils/powders and other nutraceutical ingredients from around the world.
Through SCA subsidiaries Metton America, Inc. (MAI) and Cymetech, high-purity Poly-DCPD materials for liquid molding are sold and marketed in the US, Europe, and Latin America. Their main application is for class-8 trucks as well as for agricultural machinery manufacturers. Our Sojitz Plastics America subsidiary has been an industry leader in both packaging films and specialty resins for decades.
